This was anticipated to be the biggest sprint car race of the year in both size of field (expected more than 50 cars) and purse ($4,500 to win/$17,545 total).
Practice at noon, first heat race at 1:00 pm.
Used format where heats were lined up by draw instead of qualifications.
Thank you Sandy for those results. Actually I'd sent Dan that picture of my ticket sub as I'm unable to post photos. Thankfully Dan shared that for me.
I vividly remember that dusty Sunday afternoon race. At its conclusion my brother and I high tailed it to Kokomo that night to catch their race also. We arrived at Kokomo already predusted from Terre Haute.
The following weekend at Lawrenceburg, I got the chance to ask Sheldon if he thought that 50 lapper at Terre Haute was ever gonna end?
You could see Sheldon during those yellow flag laps raising his palms to the sky, as if to ask are we ever gonna restart?
Sheldon had shared his thoughts with me about that race cordially for nearly 15 minutes. You'd have thought he'd known me forever. As it would turn out. That would be the only time I had the privlage to speak with Sheldon.
Really glad he gave me 15 minutes of his time.
