The powers that be, with Jay Frye(A former NA$CRAP guy) leading the way, listened to the drivers and fan feedback as to the direction of the package. The call for some time now has been to take out downforce, make these cars harder to drive, put it to the driver and get away from the ridiculous easy passing and sometimes downright utterly stupid dangerous racing seen under the old package.

They've actually been having to lift in the turns, the drivers are having to fight these cars to a degree we haven't seen in some time. In both Indy and Texas we got two excellent races full of strategy along with top drivers hitting set ups and doing their thing. That's what the people want to see and the drivers want. A Twitter poll was put up after the Texas race and it wasn't even close. Of the over 600 people polled it was rated a good race at a 4 to 1 margin on one of the most negative social media sites known to man.

BTW, that race that you claimed sucked is tied 7th all-time for lead changes at 30 and 1st all-time for number of leaders at 15. There are tweaks that still need to be made to the new aero, teams are still figuring it out, and of course the heat played a major factor in handling, but this is finally going in the right direction.

No more Max Chilton's easily blowing by the leader due to a massive tow and leading 50 laps of the 500, no more NASCRAP style pack jobs that do millions of dollars worth of damage in one night and place unnecessary risks in the laps of drivers already performing one of the more dangerous job on four wheels. Those days are coming to a close. The racin' is over and it's back to Racing with a capital R. Can't wait for a couple of more years when the new engine package sees more horsepower.
