First, Congrats to Chet Filip, I have enjoyed watching you race since your supermodified days, this was a great win for you.

Second, a Richmond race without DD in either division is a sad day.

Third, we have debated new generation car vs traditional car for three plus years now. IMO if the new generation cars would have unveiled in Phoenix in 2006 21 cars strong instead of taking two years to build the car count to 21, yesterday you would have watched the new generation car run with a respectable purse. Running the new generation cars at Richmond the past two years increased the purse by $33,500 each year. If we take the new generation car out of the equation (like it never happend) the SC purse should have been increasing at least $2000.00 to $3000.00 a year since 2005, low end $86,000, high end $89,000, yesterdays purse saw a $500 increae to the point fund from the 2005 purse of $79,500.

I personally think USAC has more to address than what the car looks like. Many of you in this thread have good ideas, USAC needs to make cutting the cost of racing and securing a purse where more than the top two or three can break even their top priority.

Someone posted on another thread that the Hoffman team would probably be the only team to break even in the sprint division, I would bet the 3rd place SC team would be border line as far as covering expsenses.
