I would love to go back to June 1964 to watch my very first race; a USAC midget show at Lawrenceburg Speedway. It was a race that started my, now, 53 year addiction to racing.

I was basically starting from square one. The only driver I had any familiarity with back then was Bob Wente and that was because he ran the Indy 500 almost two weeks earlier. I know Mel Kenyon, Chuck Rodee and Demsey Wilson was there. Pretty sure Bob Tattersall & Mike McGreevy. Beyond that it gets a little fuzzy. Maybe a Section A buddy of mine can fill me in.

Oh, and one other driver of note. Jimmy Davies was not only there, he was the feature winner that evening. If you made a list of underrated drivers, Jimmy Davies would be a very good place to start.
