As the fall on this years CHALLENGE, Danville Indiana's own Kent Christian was up for the "challenge" as he made the trip south to race in the Lucas Oil Southern States Midget Series North-South Mason Dixon Challenge worth more than 3 grand over the 2 nights of D-2 midget racing at Crossville Speedway in Tennessee and Boyd's Speedway in Ga.

Christian driving for Craig Dori of Illinois was up for the challenge on the 1/3rd mile high banks of both Crossville and Boyd's. Fri. night at Crossville, had Kent getting the handle on the orange and white #38 while running 4th he was involved with a lapped car on lap 17 but managed to keep the wheels rollin and no caution. The contact did result in a RR broken shock and a chunk of rubber missing on the tire. Christian charged back after falling back to 9 and managed a top 5 with 5th.

Sat. night rolled around and the talk was all about the great racing that was seen between Pa. Jim Young and N.C. Tim Nye as they put on a clinic for slide jobs at Crossville. Count'm 17 sliders in 20 laps. As pill draw time came about the LOSSMS had 12 cars on hand for tonight's show as they lost 1 car do to engine issues. As always with and most all racing series racers help racers. As said, Dori's #38 suffered a broken shock and the Southern Outlaw Motorsports team of Darrin and Wayne Davis loaned them their extra pair of Super Shox for the night. Heat races won by Jim Young and Tim Nye they seemed to be the ones to beat on this night. Not so fast, the veteran sprint car ace from Indiana might have a say so about that, and he did. Running with the leaders all night Christian took the lead on lap 12 and never looked back, if he had he would have seen a torrid battle between 2,3,4,5,6 places, but on this Night The Lights In Georgia were not out because they were shining on Kent Christian from Indiana as he picked up his first Lucas Oil Southern States D-2 Midget Series victory and took the second half of the NORTH-SOUTH Mason Dixon Challenge to Indiana making it a "YANKEE" sweep as round 1 went to Pennsylvania.

Both tracks were very pleased with the show and are interested in hosting the 2018 North South Mason Dixon Challenge back here next year. Thank you to all the racers that attend!
