Kevin Miller took the time to share a nice story from a fan's perspective -- and everything they say is 100% true. I appreciate that he shared the story, and it sounds like the Spencer's are a class act.
There are a lot of OT comments on this thread, which I feel is unfortunate. There is only one way to increase purses and keep racing -- and that is to put fans in the stands. Fans are the bread and butter of the sport. Without them, we will not survive. Increasing a fan's affinity with the drivers and teams will bring them back. One never knows who will be the next fan, new sponsor, new friend, etc.
My family got addicted to racing when Pancho Carter invited two of my brothers to sit in his Indy Car in the pits after the 500 (in the early 70's I believe). As a child, this was the talk of our dinner table for the next 10 years. My brother is still a fan of Dane and Cole because of Pancho's kindness over 30 years ago! I probably would have not bought a Silver Crown team had it not been for Pancho getting my brothers so involved in the sport. LOL.
Kudos to the Spencer's for being a class act, and thanks to Kevin Miller for sharing this story.
