So let's add this issue to a long list of blunders by various people in power over the years.
Here is a sampling of some of the blunders:
1. The division of the championship Trail. Look what we have now... speed rockets driven by 21 foreign drivers in the Indy 500 sprinkled with a few Americans.
2. Purpose built sprint, midget and silver crown cars for pavement and dirt. How crazy is it that a midget team must have two different cars to win $2500. And with that we now have pavement only teams, dirt only teams, pavement and dirt teams, cars in the same division that look totally different... what a nightmare.
3. The Fontana and Esslinger midget engines being allowed extra cubic inches. And I know of at least one other midget engine builder who has had the door slammed in his face when he asked to have the same opportunities to build a similar engine.
4. Tires and wheels so wide and big that race fans in the stands need combat gear to watch the racing. You're lucky if you're not totally covered with mud and dirt as the cars go by your area.
5. Allowing all kinds of exotic race parts materials such expensive carbon fiber and titanium and electronic ignitions.
6. Complete failure to come up with a sensible plan to contain the costs of operating a race team in line with the purse.
7. Total mishandling of the Ford Focus program.
8. The June 11th Race at Anderson.
