"Schmidt is a former race winning Indycar driver and team owner of the Schmidt Petersen Racing team which competes in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Paralyzed from the neck down after a racing incident, Schmidt competes with a specially-outfitted Motion Pro II that utilizes the SAM 2.0 control systems developed by Arrow Electronics. The control systems include a steering system activated by camera sensors and a sip-and-puff breath system that provide graduated controls of the throttle and brakes.
Schmidt competed in the 2015 iRacing Pro Race of Champions, finishing 16th after being caught up in a first corner incident."

‘Team CXC’ is set and ready to compete in the sixth annual iRacing Pro Race of Champions.
Set at Phoenix International Raceway and using the Dallara DW12 used in the Verizon IndyCar Series, the iRacing Pro Race of Champions will kick off at 6:30 PM PST on Wednesday, December 14 and will be broadcast live at www.iracing.com/live. iRacing and CXC will donate $2,500 for the winner, $1000 for second and $500 for third to the Justin Wilson Children’s Fund in the name of each driver.
The drivers competing in the race at the CXC Simulations facility in Los Angeles, California will be:
Townsend Bell – IndyCar veteran, IMSA series champion and a class winner at the 24 Hours of LeMans
Alex Gurney – two time GRAND-AM Daytona Prototype champion
Matt Halliday – competitor in the IndyCar, A1GP, and V8 Supercars series
Tommy Kendall – two-time IMSA GT champion and four-time Trans-Am champion
Michael Lewis – Race winner in the Pirelli World Challenge championship
Patrick Long – Porsche factory driver, three time IMSA series champion and a class winner at the 24 Hours of LeMans, 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit LeMans
Oriol Servia – IndyCar Series race winner
Sam Schmidt – IndyCar race winner and team owner of Schmidt Petersen Motorsports
