I have run full time with the BOSS series the last 2 seasons. I also normally run a handful of USAC shows throughout the year. Its not that mine or anyones equipment isnt good enough infact I made the USAC a main at Eldora in the spring by winning my heat race. It comes down to cost of racing. I have absolutely nothing against USAC i enjoy racing with them when i get the chance because racing against that group of cars only makes you better, But as the driver and car owner of my own equipment it does not make since for me to buy a membership for only running a few races a year therefore it cost me money to just enter a USAC race. With the BOSS series it does not cost anything to race whether you are a member or not, the payout through the field is good all the way back and you even get paid for finishing in a transfer spot in your heat race, its not much but it atleast pays for the alcohol you burned during the race. If you are top in 15 points it pays $50 dollars more to not make the a main and $50 more to just start in the A main. I think its great that USAC has started coming up with heat race sponsors to give back to the drivers or car owners. With the open tire rule of BOSS it gives us an option to buy a $180 tire vs. $240 if we want to. I have nothing against USAC and me along with many of the other drivers in the BOSS would love to race with USAC more if the opportunity was available but as almost all of the BOSS drivers own their own cars and work many extra hours at work or even a second job just to do something we all love and are passionate for the BOSS series is the best option for us. I feel both series are great things and i hope both of them continue to grow and sprint car racing in itself continues to grow.
