Johnson and Vigo counties declared states of emergency and the National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning from Terre Haute to near Indianapolis after 6 to nearly 10 inches of rain fell today.

Flooding closed I-70 around 10 a.m. at the 30.2-mile marker in southwestern Hendricks County, according to Indiana State Police. That's around seven miles west of Cloverdale, in the vicinity of Big Walnut Creek. A trooper at the Putnamville post said it appeared the highway was "washed out."

Johnson County and Morgan County's emergency management officials said they were too busy with rescues to share information.
