INDIANA STATE FAIRGROUNDS & EVENT CENTER CONTINUES TO WELCOME CLASSIC CARS FOR AUCTION AND HISTORIC HOOSIER HUNDRED

INDIANAPOLIS—Automobiles and racing have a long standing history in Indianapolis and that is no different at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event center. Events for the car enthusiast like Dana Mecum’s 29th Original Spring Classic Auction, and The Hoosier Hundred for the racing fanatic can all be enjoyed at the State Fairgrounds this May.

Dana Mecum’s 29th Original Spring Classic Auction takes over the State Fairgrounds May 17-21 with nearly 2,000 classic and collector cars that will cross the auction block. The show draws collectors large and small from all over the country and bidders from all over the world. This will mark the ninth year the auction has attracted some 20,000 visitors to the State Fairgrounds. Admission is $30 at the door and children younger than 12 receive complimentary admission.

The Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center has available space to provide Mecum the versatility it needs to have 1.4 million square feet indoors and approximately 150,000 square feet of outdoor tent space. As the world’s largest muscle car auction, last year, Mecum auctioned a total of $42 million. For those who can’t make it to the auction in person NBC offers a live broadcast, and there is also a live stream available online at www.mecum.com.

Since 1953, thousands of fans have flocked to the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center for the annual Hoosier Hundred dirt track race as one of the premier events race weekend to see drivers like 17-time USAC champion Levi Jones, AJ Foyt, Jeff Gordon and Jack Hewitt.

This year welcomes the 62nd running of the Hoosier Hundred, a 100-mile auto race, showcasing the historic 1-mile dirt track at the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand and grass-roots racing at its finest. Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, May 26th, will be jammed pack with high speed fun. Advance tickets are $25 and $30 at the gate.
