If we are really worried about costs then make it to were you have to run a stock block chevy right out of a boneyard and put carbs back on them. I grew up down south and they did that for years and the pits were always lined up every weekend.  |

You wouldn't see those wings like in the posted photo.
Also there would be no discussion about rules, because there were none.
Maybe I'm showing my age but I was around when the first plywood wings started showing up.
I knew they were going to suck a lot of wind.
Your stock block thing makes sense except that you can have a stock block with a stock crank running a carb and still make insane horsepower with good heads. if you don't mind destroying a bottom end now and then. You have to keep on adding rules as guys start toeing the line. Back to tire rules, they no good. Maybe r/r that's it.
