Eldora has never been the same since Doty got hurt. After that Earl decided to slow it down and sheepsfooted it into pavement. Even just putting new dirt over the top of it doesnt do any good. I'd like to see them dig the whole thing up down past the old rubbered up dirt and bring in some good clay. That being said it would piss off every other organization that runs there because they all want the hard slick surface that has been the norm for the last 25 years. I'm not at all saying there has been no good non-wing races since then but I think they happen less frequently that they used to and much less frequently than tracks like Kokomo and Haubstadt.
