I made my first trip to DuQuoin on Sept. 5, 1965 for the USAC 100 mile stock car race, and watched Paul Goldsmith drive to victory in a Plymouth in front of a SRO crowd. I returned the next day, (Labor Day) and watched Don Branson win the Ted Horn 100. I have not missed one since, and I believe last night's race had to be one of the best I've ever seen, perhaps even surpassing the first night race in 2003. The top three were battling like sprint cars on a quarter mile bullring.
Jen Morgan, you did a great job on the updates; I followed them all night long.
