My two cents...this weekends prep was a nightmare! It all started Friday night while doing our usual watering...strongest storms I have ever seen without a drop of rain...we had to deal with 40-50 mph winds while trying to water the track. The lightening show was crazy. Saturday morning everything was looking great, and then......the floater truck that we usually use all day watering had the right rear tire fall off the hub and it was done for the day. So I had to use our big semi yellow truck to water all day. Which makes it difficult to water the top. Fast forward to 4pm...I was closely watching the radar and big storms were coming and I figured they would hit around hot lap time.....so...without the floater truck to pack the track thought I better start packing the track. Had the track sealed pretty good right about hot lap time. Well the skies darkened the winds picked up and the lightening was intense. So we got hot laps in for sprints and mods and stopped the show so folks would seek shelter, all the while we packed the track tighter to seal it for the obvious torrential downpour that was coming....well we somehow got no rain! Unbelievable!! We carried on with the racing and track was good but was drying out. The plan was to water during the redraw on the stage, but saw radar with light showers moving in so opted to just keep the program going. Well it rained just enough to make the track slick enough not to race on for about 30 minutes. The show went on and the track was slick, but the racing was great! The racers in all classes put on a great show for the great fans in attendance. In the end we started on time, had over a hour in delays and ran a lot of heats and 3 b-mains and was done with everything before 11:30!!!! Hats off to everyone for hanging in there with us and putting on a awesome show! Thanks, Dave and Kim Rudisell
