Nick,
In discussions with tracks that have been running the 602 engine for several years in east coast modified sportsman, late model and stock cars the average life is 2-3 seasons based on a 20 25 event season. Some are more.
This is in 2,500#-3,500# car so a 1,575# sprint car should at a minimum equal that. These engine will compete with a 6,200 rpm chip.
This would be an average engine cost of $70.00 per event. I don't know of any other engine program that is anyway close to that.
There will be a yet to be determined shock and tire program.
Currently street stock and mini sprint divisions with much higher engine costs are racing for $350-$450 to win and $75-$100 to start.
While it will be up to the tracks to determine purses I believe that with a purse in the upper end of that this division will be overall much more cost efficient.
Thanks for your interest,
Larry Kemp
