It's good to see Fairbury schedule something besides dirt late models and econo-mods. Fairbury is a well run facility but this is hard core dirt late model country and it's been very hard, over the years, for there to be any form of open wheel racing to make inroads in this area. If anyone can do it POWRi can. In fact, many of the regular Fairbury spectators kinda' turn up their noses at sprints and midgets.
Fairbury had a POWRi midget show scheduled last July but it got flooded out and it just kinda' faded away without any explanation as to why it wasn't rescheduled. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative this coming season since we live within an hour of Fairbury.
With a $2000.00 to win dirt late model feature and a $1000.00 to win econo-mod feature scheduled as support classes for the POWRi midgets this show has the potential to draw a great crowd. Maybe if the POWRi guys put on their usual great show it'll win over some of the dismissive late model people.
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
