When Ballou came here and Ran the MPHG car, I really had no idea who he was, He quickly became a favorite of mine, Not just for his racing style but in the pits he would always say Hi or how ya doing, He don't know me from Adam, But is fan friendly and thats Genuine. I know there are times he's busy or could be upset and often rightfully so. But thats more the exception than the rule.
He quickly won the first LBurg Nationals and several other bigger races and then it was pretty much left to him and his wife if they were to continue racing or not. Borrowed a trailer to make the MSCS Spring Fling at Terre a couple years back, Won that and maybe broke even. Then it was the struggle of owning, maintaining and driving his own operation, Something I've seen take many excellent racers to 5th to 15th status where they'd normally be winning if all they had to worry about was driving.
Robert has prevailed and not by playing the safe card, He could have easily won another half a dozen races that I seen him in this year, Like the Four Crown or the Midget Week Sprint race at Lawrenceburg. He was on, the car was on and the S**T happens bug bit him in those.
Hopefully Car owners take notice, Ray Marshall at Atomic was huge and some of his sponsors also have helped him make it to the track, But in reality, Hard work, determination and tallent rose to the top.
Congrats Robert Ballou, Team and Family!!
P.S. This in no way means the rest of the racers and teams aren't hard working
