As the partner who has responsibility for the racing surface, I can only say that we moved alot of dirt in a short period of time. I personally have been at the track everyday for weeks until dark every night.
Fans were so enthuzed with racing Sunday night I don't think they realized that the "Swamps" at the bottom of the apex in both turns are gone. The track is actually higher than the inside of the guardrail now.
As for the conditions Sunday night, we had perfect weather, good for the participants and fans and a terrible day for the track preparer, sunny with a slight breeze. These conditions evaporated water very quickly. Watering the blackened sections would only create hazardous conditions for the cars and poor racing for the spectator's.
I have recieved many thanks from the fans over the cars pitting in the infield. At the end of the day they pay for the race track improvements and upkeep and they are the consumers who use the sponsors products and services.
Our mission is to revive the Action Track and to have a facility that is safe, clean and the race fans receive a good show!
We hope too see everyone for the May 22nd, Tony Hulman Classic.
Sincerely,
Chris Novotney
