There were a couple of yellows early. The second one was for a tangle in between turns one and two. Robert Ballou did a Tommy Tipover, Daron Clayton ended up turned around and Brandon Morin was involved, as well. So here you had it, a complete restart with The Madman and the Modern Day Cowboy both starting on the tail. You didn't know exactly what was getting ready to happen, but whatever it was, no doubt it was going to get a little crazy! Shuman took off well and grabbed the lead, with Brady Short in tow. Shane Cottle was also fast, but had Dave Darland draped all over him. Early in the race, Darland made an aggressive pass on Cottle coming out of turn four. About five laps in Clayton started mowin' em' down. About five laps after that you could tell that everybody in the crowd was starting to notice, as he had worked his was up through more than half the field. You could see them pointing at Clayton as he flew by and yelling to their racing buddies. A few laps after that he was in the top group of cars, battling Dave, Shane and eventually Brady, for their positions. But, while they were being wowed by Clayton, under the radar, Kyle Cummins had rifled his way through the field, from the fifth row and was second to Casey and was threatening. Then here comes Brent Beauchamp to grab second. He had been strong all night. Clayton plateaued a bit and settled into a position in the top 5, but just then Robert Ballou had started to go on a tear and was putting himself into the mix. Then there was a yellow with eight laps left. With the way these guys were slugging it out, having them bunched back up meant we were in for a real fight to the finish, with Casey Shuman holding the point. But, right at that moment there was just a terrible sight. Shuman had a right rear that was almost completely flat. He had fought so hard, and up to that point was the man and just like that, his night was over. When they went green, Beauchamp took off a had a nice little lead and looked to be on his way to the victory, but then here came Cummins. He reeled was reeling him in. And while this was going on, Darland, Ballou and Clayton were going at it tooth and nail. What a battle!! With three to go Cummins had caught Beauchamp. With two to go he was all over him. When they threw the white flag, it was on and Kyle threw a slider coming out of turn two. They made a little bit of contact and the 3 car drove onto the victory. It was a racing deal and you hated to see either one lose, because they both deserved to win. Front to back, this was a hard race to beat! Everybody was standing the last 20 laps. The crowd was buzzing as they went to their cars. Like they do when they see Instant Classic. It was just crazy. There were a few laps that I didn't even know who the hell the leader was. With all that was going on, all over the place.
