The Germans and the Japanese made a very big mistake, picking a fight with the young American men of this generation. They had all grown up having been through the depression. They were all tough. America was one big, tough neighborhood during this period. Then they came back, not bragging about what they had done or asking for people to feel sorry for them for what they had endured. They just laced up their work boots and became the driving force in America's industrial revolution.
