That was a great race, tonight!! When Clayton is on a rampage and is screamin' just inside the fence like that, he's a sight to behold. You're just riveted. And lap after lap he just set a torrid pace, lifting that left front off the ground as he exited turns two and four. But on this night, he wouldn't demolish the field, as he had a talent laden USAC one at Haubstadt just a few weeks ago. Because as fast as he was going, he was being kept in the sights of Jon Stanbrough. Early in the race, Jon took a bunch of runs at him. Then when they caught lapped traffic the first time, Clayton just pulled off an insane move, sliding like 4 lapped cars at one time and put some distance between he and his pursuer. How I didn't fall out of my seat at that moment, I don't know. Then little by little, Jon started to reel him back in, until when making a move to the lower part of the track, he nearly ran into the infield and Clayton escaped yet again. I knew this was only getting started, because these two had a history of engaging in epic battles. Two of which were a couple of the best races I've EVER seen. Late in the race, there was a yellow. Daron got a good restart and put some distance between he and Jon. But not a lot of distance. Then Jon started to reel him back in, as CJ Leary was catching them both as they neared lapped traffic again, with 4 laps left. Daron made a move on a lapped car and drifted up a bit, losing some momentum. That was all that Stanbrough needed. Opportunity knocked and he seized the lead, never giving it back.

I've watched drivers try to chase Clayton when he on his game and that rarely works. But I never had the impression that Jon was chasing him in this race. It felt more like he was stalking him. And when his chance came he took advantage of it. It's great to watch two great drivers just throw down like these two did, at such high speeds. It definitely adds another element to the whole experience.

The track was good all night and I got to watch a whale of a race with some good friends that I don't get to see as often as I would like, so it was a real good night at the track for me.
