Awful lot of badmouthing for 13 teams who spent the 5 grand just to get their cars there, hotels, pit passes. Learys rig blew up and he still made it somehow.
Its always iffy going into territory your not established. I didn't see any complaining when full fields and consis were run for two races in FL.
I agree however. The prestige of USAC is to run the best and get a big check and trophy at the end of the year. YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE END OF THE YEAR FIRST and if it bankrupts you to do so. Even though there are teams that can afford to run the series. Its awful tough to tow a thousand miles and run when there's 2000 and 5000 to win races within 200 miles of Indy. and 1400 in their back yards.
IDK, USAC should seek out some more corporate sponsors and at least boost purses for long haul shows. Seems like they get to a point they can't get past and it grows and shrinks accordingly.
I still remember when it was much worse and only 7 teams pretty much followed it and they even ran winged shows to draw some cars. (Lord don't let that happen again

)
Start a eight- ten race USAC Midwest, In three years you'll have 30car fields with the National teams comin out.
