It is a big weekend for open wheel racing in Central Illinois as the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midgets and Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series make 2 exciting stops this weekend. Friday night, Jacksonville Speedway plays host to the first of 2 exciting events. Jacksonville is always an exciting time with great facilities and concessions, as well as great racing.

On Saturday night, the midgets, a class that was one of the original classes at Macon Speedway back in 1946, makes it's first appearance of 2014 as the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series comes to town to tackle the 1/5 mile bullring. Macon is known for great side by side racing and incredible slidejobs, plus the delicious Polish Sausage is one of the staples (although ALL of the concessions are pretty darn good).

Rising star Christopher Bell leads the Lucas Oil National Midget Series points standings with 760 points. Tanner Thorson is second with 600, followed by defending series champ Zach Daum of Pocahantas, Ill., with 590.
