If I missed one race to go to a wedding, and another race was coming up that payed 150% points but was another 75 or 100 miles away I would not worry too much about the points I lost to watch a friend take that long walk down the path of no return and concentrate on making that race that payed the extra points and try to stay in the chase.

For the racer that makes 100% of the races they too have bad nights they would like to forget or at least shovel under the rug.
