As for purse money, AMA is $7500 to win for 25 miles, at least at Indy. That's not too bad for a race the quarter distance of a champ dirt car race.

USAC executive tried to do something along these lines, they bought a t-shirt gun and some pyro stuff... It came with directions that had to be read, so he put the stuff in the basement, and he went off to Calf. to a truck race!
