I expected probably 12-15 cars and couldn't believe that there were over 30 of them! Besides the ISMA and MSA folks, there were at least 10 West coast guys. I spent a good bit of time with Dale Lamborn and his crew from Nevada. Very friendly bunch and I really enjoyed it. It was very interesting seeing the differences between the East and West coast cars. Anyways, the racing was great and IMO they stole the show. Unfortunately the supers didn't get a whole lot of track time (as I recall, their feature was shortened) since they were supposed to be the "support" class and there was some controversy over the officiating. Bottom line, the next year there was only about a dozen cars, none from the West, and the following year the Supers were replaced with Late Models.
I remember a number of years ago when the first East vs West race was held at Indianapolis Raceway Park. I don't remember exactly how many cars were present but they had quite a few. This was before the MSA was formed so it was just ISMA from the East and the WSRL(?) from the West. A very exciting race and that was my first time ever seeing them up close.
I do remember that the weight differential right side vs left side was different. I believe that the cars from the East were 65-35 percent while the ones from the West were 70-30. They also had a number of other things to work out inorder to run this show. A very competitive race and they put on quite a show. Unfortunately it was a one and done as they never returned again.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
