MTQRL THREE-QUARTER MIDGETS & SIDEWINDERS TO RACE AT SHELBYVILLE ON JUNE 22nd

The Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Jenmarco.com will make their first of four appearances at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on Saturday night June 22nd.

The Shelbyville track is a popular stop on the MTQRL circuit and usually sees some of the highest car counts of the year. As an added bonus the 600cc non wing sidewinders will also be competing. The sidewinders will hit the track during the downtime between the TQ races and both classes should produce an exciting evening of racing.

In a little more than four seasons the MTQRL has run sixty-one features and nearly 30% have been held at Shelbyville. Four-time and defending champion Tate Martz has won a whopping nine of the eighteen features, including last September where he started nineteenth and charged through the field to win the race!

Other than Martz the only driver with multiple Shelbyville victories is Ronnie Combs with four. Drivers who have visited victory lane once are Brett Hankins, Matt Lux, Rick Robinson, Jason Willis and Nick Speidel (Saturday’s winner at Montpelier).

Last season at Shelbyville Shane Williamson won the first sidewinder feature and nearly made it two in a row until Jessee Holt stole the victory with a turn four last lap pass.

Saturday’s racing program will consist of qualifications, the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel, Perfect North Slopes heat races, a semi feature (if needed), and a twenty-five lap feature for the three-quarter midgets. Each sidewinder will run two heat races with their combined finishes lining up their feature.

The pit gate will open at 3:00 pm, grandstands at 5:00 pm, drivers meeting at 5:30 pm, practice at 6:00 pm, qualifications at 6:30 pm, and racing is set to begin at 7:30 pm. Grandstand admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children 7 to 12, and under 6 are free.

Stop by State Farm Insurance at 1514 N. Main Street in Rushville from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday evening where Steed Motorsports will have their cars on display and drivers Jon Steed and Bobby Walton will be passing out coupons good for free children’s admission (7-12 years old).

Pit passes are $25 for all ages. Any minors that wish to enter the pit area must have at least one parent/guardian present to sign the appropriate minor release forms. Any minor drivers that wish to compete must have both parents/guardians sign the Annual Parental Release.
