You might want to look at the rules, MMSA says driveline to be CENTERED in the chassis, and the engine can't hang out, if you'll notice, a Kenyon midget left end of the engine, is really hanging, so maybe it's a grandfather deal, with the newer engines using a stacked gearbox, rather than behind each other, does cut this distance down some, but I don't know if it's enough to meet the current rule or not, but better ck.!
