Throwback: You're right, Kansas is definitely wing country, so saying the winged sprints have "weaseled" in probably isn't accurate. Like it or not, the task of the Fair Amusement Board at Belleville is to put butts in seats. Apparently, they're of the opinion that running a Kansas-sanctioned 305 (winged) group will help accomplish that. And maybe they're right. Personally, I prefer non-wing also, but I give a pass to those fans who have other preferences. There's always been plenty of down time at the Midget Nationals, so adding the 305s to the show might keep fans more involved. For those who are indifferent, or like you, HATE wings, it's a short walk to the 2nd most popular spot on the fairgrounds...the beer garden.

Backitin: I would guess that, if polled, the majority of IOW members prefer non-wing racing, but last time I checked, it's still called Indiana Open Wheel, not Indiana Non Wing. I would also guess that Bill welcomes any discussion of safety in racing, regardless whether it involves wings or not.
