Nice coolish evening.
25 cars knocked down to 24 almost immesdiately when something went amiss with the #99 that Joss Moffatt was driving for the evening. Joss's regular ride is in the process of being put together so it was unavailable for the evening. To top off his weekend Joss took over the Brad Stevens ride for the feature only to pull it off the track after a handfull of laps.
Chad Boesflug had them covered, or so is seemed for a while. Kevin Thomas Jr., who seems to have more talent than luck, made his case for the win, looked like he would follow through, but then the motor quit. I don't think anyone had anything for KT but luck just wouldn't go his way.
Justin Grant survived a near miss not of his own doing early on only to get near the front and hang around for a while untill opportunity knocked and he passes Chad with just a few laps to go. Chad would rally back but fell just a car length short. After many good showings that ended in disappointment it's good to see Justin finally get to victory lane at Lawrenceburg.
It was great to see Shawn Westerfeld suited up and racing after being laid up for several weeks because a serious medical issue. Shawn tagged the tail after an early race mishap but brought it home nicely in 4th when it was all all over.
Brad Stevens and Dwayne Spille joined in the fun for the first time in a while. It's good to see the 'burg's local base of drivers and cars growing again.
Good runs by Adam Cruea and Justin Owen last night as they continue to gain more experience.
Joining Shawn Westerfeld on the list of people present that have been on the mend is Bob Gatten who came up from Florida to watch Chad race and LeeAnn Clemons, one of the lovlier members of section A. Hope all gets healthy and stays healthy for a long time.
On my soapbox. From my vantage point the tire in question might have been too close to the track. I could be wrong though. The other issue was lining up for the last restart. I wish all the drivers would have gotten into the proper position much quicker than they did and if there was a question by any of the drivers they should have pulled off and inquired as to why and where. That last yellow took so long I was beginning to think Josef Newgarden's IndyCar needed to be towed off the track.
It was great to be at the 'burg after a week layoff. Can't wait for next week and beyond.
