Fuel costs have gone up, so has the ticket prices. One big issueis people just flat out aren't coming to the track as much anymore. So when you have attendance that's down, you have to raise ticket prices to get some of that revenue back. In a perfect world, you would lower the prices to encourage people to show up, but by the same token, you take a bigger risk that those people aren't going to show. Without the fans showing up, you can't pay the purses.
But truthfully, the one thing nobody has talked about... insurance. I know what I was quoted 5 years ago, and I haven't quoted since then, but I've got a very good feeling it's gone way up. that's one thing that people don't often think about.
I can only speak for the racing that we do, but for us last year, on average, our fuel cost increase was only about 15 bucks per race, which our farthest track away was about 2 hours with a Ford truck and a 28 foot tag trailer.
