You already use ethanol in your daily driver.
Most pump gasolines are cut with ten to fifteen percent ethanol.
The materials problems don't start until the percentage goes up ( don't remember off the top of my head at what point the materials problems do start ), which is why you can't run E85 in a car that doesn't have a fuel system designed for that mix.
