i dont think it was synthetic dirt as much as it was the "product" being applied.
back in the day, lindy vicari was mixing stuff in the water trucks at reading and it kept the track tacky with minimal dust.
after reading, the formula was rumored to have gone to don jones of east windsor (nj) speedway.
