Hey Bob the series I have is Southern States Lightning Sprint....I'm 56 years young and do not like change about like a lot of most of us old and young farts on here but I am open enough to see opportunity to grow the sport. With the economy the way it it's and so very hard to get full fields of cars one has to be innovative. with what I am proposing to run for the winternationals I feel will do just that...do rules get tweaked, sure they do. Last year many said the sidewinders would eat up the uprights...I proved them wrong. Removing the wing is a great equalizer along with a RR hardness compound. If people would not live in the pass and open their eyes to new things it would be so much better. Contrary to belief things do not stay the same, if they did where would we be?
My proposal is to open up as much as I can and be FAIR about it..you can't please everyone...One man tried that and we all know what happened to him!!
Lightning Sprint aka as Up-Right Mini Sprint: Motorcycle powered/13 inch wheel/chain driven straight axle rearend downsized sprint car...750/1200cc STOCK engine 66/74 inch wheel base
Midget/Focus/Ecotec: Up-Right downsized sprint car/various inline 4 cly engine, cost anywhere from 7500.00/25000.00/direct drive/must be push started/quick change rearend.
TQ Midget: Motorcycle engine usually no more then 836cc/up-right with quickchange rear end no chain drives allowed/self starting/54-66 inch wheel base
What my group here in Florida (which is just starting) is looking at would be the best of all 3 classes.
Loose the word MINI...Lightning is in place (public sees mini as small)
Keep engines affordable (stock) motorcycle engines
Adapt rules to allow most...Chain drives and quickchange (optional)
Weights are the equalizer
RR tire compound is a equalizer
Must be self starting/drive away (tracks and spectators love this)
Series directors must take charge of engine rules and other rules that have SKYROCKETED out of hand...Shocks/tires/engine
I would like to have each and everyone that comes to Florida feel they have a shot at winning but better yet just come down out of the cold and enjoy the SUN!!
