Oh, the race was decent, too.

Still not a fan of the twin 50s.....
Randy,

I HATE the format and everyone around me was confused by the stoppage. I have been to every race since 1965 and this was the smallest crowd I have ever seen. I know of several people that stayed away because of the format. I hate to see another tradition go by the wayside. I expressed my displeasure to Bob Sargent and you may do so by calling Track Enterprises at (217)764-3200.
I am by no means bashing Mr. Sargent, I just would like to see a return to the classic, traditional 100 miler.
I also asked Bob about the possibility of his return to promotion at THAT. He stated that he is working on it, but that was as far as it went. THAT is badly in need of a stabilizing force.

One comment I have about DuQuoin, that does not pertain to the race, is that there seemed to be more of a willingness to accommodate fans by transporting them to and from the parking areas. First time ever that we were transported from the gate to the grandstand and back to the parking lot after the race. I don't recall seeing the trams taking people back to the parking lot after the races before. A nice touch!
