I attended Millstream many times in the 80s and early 90s. It was one of the first places that I ever took pictures. I remember an Ohio Speedweek opener with around 100 cars. It was the first time I'd ever saw Brent Kaeding and what happened, he ended up flipping right in front of me in my spot in the turn 1 hillside. Too many other memories to recount.
It bothers me to see new ball parks go up all the time, many replacing another great park that wasn't built all that long ago, while at the same time a new racetrack comes along very seldom. And many of the ones that have come along are places with thoughts of a NASCAR event. I guess I have no real idea of what taxpayer money goes into building the new stadiums, but when is short track racing going to get its due? These places bring people into the area to spend money and can be a boost for the economy.
The truth is, for short track racing to grow we need some more state of the art tracks. When are we going to get an indoor stadium built for sprint car racing, specially built to keep the noise in and take care of the air problems? One that could race year around.
I know, I'm dreaming.
