On that last restart, everybody in the whole place just knew that Jordan Kinser was a sitting duck. Except Jordan Kinser, that is. Apparently he didn't get the memo.
When Babcock spun and DD was collected, there was Brady Short, the resident track powerhouse, inheriting 2nd, after being pretty much stuck back in 4th or 5th the whole race. All he had to do was pass the less experienced Kinser and cruise home for the win. But, when the green was displayed, it was obvious the underdog wasn't going to accept what seemed inevitable. He then took off and sprinted home to the victory. In the last couple of laps, Short had to be more concerned about the surging Hunter Schuerenberg, who made a last second dive to almost take second. That one was so close that I left thinking Short had finished third. The night started off a bit slow, but by feature time the track was at it's best and these guys treated the packed house to a really good race. I bet there were more than just a few that showed up just for the fireworks and will end up coming back, due to the fireworks that happened, after the fireworks.
