They said the old record for the jump was 301 feet and this one broke the record by going 332 feet. I heard plenty of cheering around me in Northeast Vista. I just think a whole lot of people were thrown off because they didn't know it was happening. They had a countdown clock that fans around me were counting down to, but nothing happened until about three minutes later.
I'm perfectly fine with the stunt. It happened long before the race started and just added to the pre-race festivities. The ramp did not block my view of the track in any way. The best part is that the stunt got many people to come to the track earlier. For as bad as the traffic was getting in this year, this thing actually helped ease the traffic issue quite a bit. I don't think I've ever seen that many people in the stands an hour and a half before the race.
