The 600 c.c. uprights only run at one track weekly in Indiana and are a little more popular in Ohio where they run two or three tracks weekly.
The reason for starting a 1000 c.c. class is due to the fact that there are no 1200 c.c. motors being produced anymore. The new motors are less expensive, readily available and produce more horsepower without requiring expensive modifications.
Part of me agrees with Jake, I hate to see this happen, but on the other hand I think if the new series wasn't formed, within two years the "traveling" mini sprints will be gone. They truely are a great stepping stone for open wheel racing and with the new series hopefully the future for them will only be positive!!
