Just out of curiousity, would like to hear some opinions ... if YOU were going to run a non-wing sprint car with an all steel limited motor (lets say carbureted 305/355), on spec Hoosier tires, what would your choice be for a chassis configuration?? ... and to make it even more interesting, lets say it won't be a 5-bar car, and the chassis should be AT LEAST 5 years old, probably more (just for $$, or lack of) ... there is also a very good chance you wouldn't be using any of the latest, lightest bolt ons, and your shocks would be very basic, probably split valving as the only option ...
... For example:
would you prefer a 39" or 40" set back?
shorter or longer wheelbase? 86, 87, longer?
how about an older non-downtube car vs. down tube?
any particular tuning or set-up idea you would see advantageous?
where would you put your limited $$ to make the most difference?
how about chassis brand, any preference there?
... just to make it even a little more interesting, lets say all that you are starting from scratch, and have no existing parts to use up, so you need to round everything up to put it together ... and, unfortunately, money IS an object ... thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge ...
