Back in the day... When John Stiles owned Speedrome he and I talked about putting down some clay, but the problem was that by the time you got enough dirt laid down, the wall had to be raised. If I recall New Bremen Speedway was dirt after it was paved. I heard the old timers say that the ruts would get so deep that you could see the old pavement.
I remember New Bremen, (Late 1960's and 70's) and I do recall us running the family sprint car at Eldora on a Saturday night and then changing the car over to run pavement at New Bremen for a Sunday afternoon race. Dad had a Charlie Alfater car and it had parallel bars in the rear with a spring front. Except for tires I really wonder what all they did change...
