During all of my years in racing Ed and Jane Adair were always a pleasure to see and I enjoyed racing for Ed during his many years of promoting. I recal years ago when I was a kid that he promoted sprint car races at Columbus, Indiana back in the 1970's and my parents supported his event by taking our sprint car down there to compete. Later, it was CORA midgets and then I was proud to race for Ed and Jane as they promoted the World Wide Auto Racing as well as the All American Midget Series.
One day we went down to Salem for a WWAR event, that Ed and Jane Adair were promoting. However before qualifying got underway we were involved in a horrific accident when a push truck ran over myself and my Dad. We were both transported to the Washington County hospital in Salem. My Dad was in terrible shape and I was knocked out with a head injury. They decide to life line dad to Louisville and so after I got my head stitched up, Jane came by the hospital and drove me from Salem down to Louisville, so I could be with Dad. At the same time, our dear friend Bob Higman was able to locate dad's truck keys and drove our race car rig back up to Lafayette, In.
This is what racing people are all about. We all care for each other in a special way that others outside our sport don't seem to understand. And, it's people like Bob Higman and Ed and Jane Adair that make our sport so special.
RIP Ed, I know Janie will be glad to see you and that stogie!
