NASCAR ran at The Springfield Mile once. It was in 1970 or 1971. The cars that raced were the pony cars, I think. Can't remember what NASCAR called them but Tiny Lund was a major player in the deal. I think the weather wreaked havoc with the whole deal and it really never had a chance to be a success.
Too bad, NASCAR would do well to race on the beautiful old 1 mile dirt tracks that are left. I've heard Kenny Schrader say it a dozen times.
Will be interesting how the new 50/50 format will affect the show this year.
