Hey everyone-
Just wanted to clear up some obvious misconceptions about this race, and the Silver Crown Series as a whole.
The folks at Oswego Speedway do not believe this event will be a success for anyone involved without the involvement of a star, such as we had last year with Kasey Kahne. Kahne was a partner in last year's race, and it was a huge success, but other commitments made it impossible for Kasey to be involved this year.
With this in mind, other solutions were sought out, but it finally had to be decided between Oswego and USAC that this race would be a no-go.
There will be a press release forthcoming from us at USAC. While we were not involved in the promotion of the "Steel Palace Classic," we really hate to see it fall off our schedule. It's been a tough year for the Silver Crown Series in the wake of losing a few key dates, but we have some great things in the works. In addition, we will be announcing the make-up of the postponed "Sumar Classic" at Terre Haute and another event, which is meant to fill out the schedule after the two unfortunate cancellations.
While many of the traditional dates for the Silver Crown Series have been threatened due to many reasons, we have a lot to look forward to as soon as next year for the series. We are working to bring back prestigious events and forge some new ones to give this series the races it deserves. It will never have a robust schedule like our Midget or Sprint Car Series, but a slate of 10-14 races, evenly split between the two surfaces, is our goal. We want those to be legitimate events, however, so simply scheduling races which we do not believe will be successful for all parties involved will not happen....
If you have any questions, feel free to post them here. We will respond to any that hit on key points. Thanks!
