In most of the world, the national football (soccer) league consists of 3 or more levels. Here's how it works in England.
Level 1 (Premier League): 20 Teams; top 6 in standings qualify for various European competitions next year; bottom 3 drop down to Level 2 next year.
Level 2 (Championship League): 24 Teams; top 3 in standings & playoff go up to Level 1 next year; bottom 3 drop down to Level 3 next year.
The same idea continues down through 8 levels.
I'd suggest NASCAR have 35 teams in the Sprint Cup circuit. The bottom 5 drop down to Grand National next year.
35 more teams in GN. Top 5 rise up to Sprint Cup; Bottom 5 drop down to ARCA.
etc.
Drivers not permitted to run more than one level.
Wouldn't that make the end of the year more interesting?
