I have been to Indiana a couple and I am always amazed how the people of Indiana turn out to support dirt track racing. We do a pretty good job here in Oklahoma but not near the level that you guys do. Watching the feed from Kokomo last night helped the thoughts I have about this even more.
Story I like to tell is that first time I came into Terre Haute I had to get gas so I pulled off of 70 and got gas right across the street from the motel on the south side of 70. As I was getting gas I heard what sounded like race motors. I listened and tried to get a beed on which way it was coming from. As I went into the convince store I asked the clerk where the track was and she said down the street that way as she pointed. Hearing stories and such made me like a kid in a candy store with excitement that the race track in Terre Haute was just a few miles from where I was.
As I end my ramble I would also like to say just remember how lucky you guys are. As many of you know State Fair Speedway is slted to be torn down in Okc in the next few weeks. As a long time fan and someone that grew up in the pits I never thought it would happen but it is. As I have to travel weekly now, as I live in Okc and the track in Okc was less than 15 mins from my house, to watch races I go we were so spoiled in Okc and did not even know it. Kinda like the old saying you do not know how good you had it till it was gone.
