UMRA Heads For Mount Lawn Saturday Night
By Alex Wollf

For the first time in 2010 the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets will make an appearance at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle on Saturday night. It will be the first official pavement race of the 50th anniversary season after severe storms forced the cancellation of last Saturday night’s program at the Anderson Speedway after qualifications where Terry Goff had quick time.
Terry Goff swept the races last season at the scenic and historic Mount Lawn Speedway in 2009 and will look to continue his dominance on Saturday night. However, Terry will face significant challenges from drivers like two-time UMRA champion and current point leader Ron Combs, Terry’s son Jason and Brandon Gray. Jason and Brandon each posted runner-up finishes at Mount Lawn in 2009 and are eager to do one spot better in 2010 at the tricky track.
The festivities for the races will begin at 11AM on Saturday morning with the Father’s Day Salute at the Dutch Mill Buffet at 8500 South State Road 3 in Milroy. Racers from the UMRA and the Mount Lawn Speedway will be on hand to greet fans and display their cars. A special offer will also be in place for race fans as for just $22 you will get the delicious Father’s Day buffet at the Dutch Mill AND a ticket to the races at Mount Lawn on Saturday night.
Saturday night’s Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA race at the Mount Lawn Speedway will be sponsored by NAP Investments. Founded by Daniel S. Rodriguez and UMRA driver Jeremy Rainwater in 2008, NAP Investments specializes in taking older properties and transforming them into affordable homes with custom touches. More information can be found at www.napinvestmentsllc.com. There will be a pair of contingency awards on the line as well on Saturday night. The G&G Oil “Hard Charger of the Race” will have five gallons of fuel go to the driver who advances the most positions in the feature event. The “Tony Stewart Rookie Challenge” will have $50 go to the highest finishing rookie. The kids will want to have their parents bring them out to Mount Lawn on Saturday night as a brand new bike will be given away to a lucky young fan.
Gates open at the Mount Lawn Speedway at 3PM on Saturday, practice is at 5, qualifying at 6:15, and racing scheduled to begin at 7:30.
