At our local vocational school, they have a high-performance day for the kids at school years end. They used to do it just for the auto related classes but have since opened it up to all kids in the center.
What started out as a couple of cars has turned into a mini car show including recruiters from all branches of the service and several colleges offering mechanics style classes.
Always held on a Wednesday, several area racers try to make it but only a few make it back year after year with Brady and myself being in that group. Dickie Gaines, Kevin and Chase Briscoe, Jordan Kinser, Arin Mcintosh, Kenny Niflis, and several others have taken time from work or school to show the kids their end of the motorsports world.
Brady and Don....and crew, bring the car and truck in spotless and ready to show. We all take turns starting the cars and letting the kids hear and feel what they are. They bring several shirts to give away as door prizes and im sure I can speak for Brad Grow and the other teachers that it is much appreciated.
I encourage all of you to look into these types of events as kids today may never get the chance to see a sprinter pushed off or hear the whine of a Blown FED without us. The next AJ Foyt may be in the shadows waiting for you.
