It would be nice to go back to the "grass roots" drivers. Saying Bernard would like to have grass roots involvement and actually have it actually happen are two different things.

The IRL or IndyCar today is dominated with road courses and street circuits with a declining number of oval tracks. It will not surprise me in the least to hear Kansas as being off the schedule in 2011. Nothing has been done in the form of cost containment besides a few renderings of 'future' Indy Cars. Almost every car owner has a sports car/road course background. Wasn't it Michael Andretti about six years ago who mentioned thst he never heard of JJ Yeley. I know it was sometime after Yeley's three USAC championships. You can't teach a leopard to change its spots. Unless something changes drastically IndyCar will continue to be what it already is, with or without Bernards help.

I personaly thought the name change thing wasn't handled very well. It sounded a little like a personal affront to the long time IRL supporters but maybe it was just the way it read.
